Myrtle S. Potter has been a Consultant of Genentech Inc. since August 2005. Ms. Potter founded Myrtle Potter and Company, LLC in 2005 and serves as its Consultant and advisor specializing in corporate strategy, corporate governance and the U.S. and global health care sectors. She has more than 25 years of experience in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. She is also co-founder of the Chapman Development Group, an organization that builds affordable housing in high cost-of-living areas.

Since September 2006, Ms. Potter has also been Chief Executive Officer of Chapman Properties, Inc. She served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for Commercial Operations of Genentech Inc. from May 2000 to March 2004 and President of Commercial Operations from March 9, 2004 to August 2005. She joined Genentech Inc. in 2000. She held the positions of President of U.S. Cardiovascular/Metabolics business unit from November 1998 to May 2000, Senior Vice President of Sales of U.S. Cardiovascular/Metabolics from March 1998 to October 1998, Group Vice President of Worldwide Medicines Group from February 1997 to February 1998 and Vice President of Strategy and Economics of U.S. Pharmaceutical Group from April 1996 to January 1997 of Bristol-Myers Squibb. She served as Vice President of the Northeast Region Business Group of Merck and Company Inc., from October 1993 to March 1996. Ms. Potter served as President-elect in 2005 of California Healthcare Institute. She has been Director of Foxhollow Technologies Inc., since November 3, 2005 and its Lead Independent Director since December 2005. She serves as Director of Eleuthera Properties, Ltd. She has been a Director of MedcoHealth Solutions Inc., since December 10, 2007. She serves as a Member of the Advisory Council of Stanford Graduate School of Business (Also known as Stanford Business School). She served as Director of ev3, Inc. from October 2007 to May 20, 2008. She served as a Director of Amazon.com Inc., from April 12, 2004 to May 28, 2009. In 2002, Ms. Potter served on the Board of Directors of the California Healthcare Institute. She has been named by The Wall Street Journal as one of its 50 Women to Watch for two years.

In 2003 and 2004, she was named by Fortune as one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. She has also been recognized in 2005 by Black Enterprise magazine as one of the 75 Most Powerful Blacks in Corporate America. In 2002, Ms. Potter was also named to Fortune magazines list of Most Powerful Black Executives in America and to Time magazines 15 Young Global Business Influentials list. Ms. Potter's numerous additional honors include the Girl Scouts of the USAs esteemed National Women of Distinction Award given to women who, through their professional and personal accomplishments, act as role models for girls. In 2002, she was named the Healthcare Business Womens Association Woman of the Year. She is one of five members of the Citizen's Financial Accountability Oversight Committee of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Foundation. Ms. Potter studied Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
