Mike Johnston was born February 19, 1957 and is the head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team. Johnston performed duties as the coach and general manager of the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks from 2008 to 2014, before taking over as coach of the Penguins for the 2014-15 NHL season. Before his tenure with the Winterhawks, he was an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks.
