At the 2005 United States Figure Skating Championships Kim Meissner become the second U.S. woman to ever land a triple Axel in competition. Kim Meissner recently represented the United States at the 2006 Winter Olympics after placing second at the 2006 United States Figure Skating Championships.
Kim Meissner became both the novice and junior national champion in two consecutive years (2003 and 2004), and the surprise 2005 national bronze medalist.
Torino update
Kim Meissner was one of two skaters to land a triple-triple in the short program in Torino and finished fifth in that phase. She had some bobbles in her free skate but still finished sixth overall with a score of 165.71 in her Olympic debut.
