Jim has been a lead/co-lead venture investor in over 30 internet/technology/media companies, many that have returned well over 25 times their cost. He has been ranked #1 on Forbes’ Midas List of top technology investors several times, as well as Fortune's smartest technology investor.
Jim led Accel's investment in Facebook in April, 2005 and Etsy in 2008. He currently is a lead/co-lead investor in several private companies including Circle Financial, Prosper Marketplace and Legendary Entertainment. Jim served on the Facebook board from 2005 to 2013, Wal-Mart Stores for over a decade, Dell, and Marvel Entertainment. He currently serves on the boards of Twenty-First Century Fox, Etsy, Circle and Legendary Entertainment. Jim has worked closely with IDG China Venture Capital for over a decade, and Breyer Capital plays the leading advisory role in the IDG China Venture Funds.
Jim is a fellow of the Harvard Corporation, Harvard University’s senior governing board, Chair of the Stanford Engineering Venture Funds, on the Advisory Board of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management in Beijing, and a Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, SFMOMA, and several philanthropic organizations. He graduated with a BS from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University as a Baker Scholar.
