Hector Elizondo's first major success came when he played God in "Steambath," earning him an Obie award for his performance.
He was also the recipient of an "Integrity Award from Diversity Awards for Integrity of Roles chosen". He appeared in several films such as "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3". Upon his return to the stage in New York he played "Simon Able" in Sly Fox - which earned him a Drama Desk nomination for outstanding performance.
Elizondo has starred in several TV shows as well. Some of these include Kojak, Rockford Files, and Colombo. He has starred in the mini series "Burden of Proof" as well. Hector received a Golden Globe nomination for his ten-minute role in the movie Pretty Woman.
In 1994, Hector Elizondo was cast as "Dr. Phillip Watters" in the medical drama Chicago Hope. He has since played the role and has been nominated twice for an Emmy as best supporting actor. Elizondo actually won the Emmy in 1997.
He has also appeared in many Off-Broadway plays such as "Kill the One-Eyed Man", and "The Great White Hope."
