Gil Morgan was born September 25, 1946 and is an American professional golfer.

Morgan was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He graduated from East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma in 1968. In 1972, Morgan earned a Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee before turning professional later that year. He is a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. Although he won only seven events on the PGA Tour between 1977 and 1990 and didn't win a major until the Senior Tour, he was one of the most consistent top 5 finishers on the Tour during this period. The most prestigious tournament he won on the PGA Tour was the 1978 World Series of Golf. He played on the 1979 and 1983 Ryder Cup teams.

In the 1992 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, Morgan was the first man to reach 10 under par in the championships history when he made birdie on the third hole of the third round. He added a further two birdies to go to 12 under par by the seventh hole, seven strokes clear of the field, before he began to struggle. He finished the day on 4 under, still leading, but the following day a final round 81 left him at 5 over, eight behind eventual winner Tom Kite, and in a tie for 13th place.

He became eligible to play on the Champions Tour in 1996, and has enjoyed considerably more success at that level than he did on the regular tour, with over 24 wins to his credit. Three of his wins have come in senior majors, namely The Tradition in 1997 and 1998 and the Senior Players Championship, also in 1998.
