George Clooney is an actor, director and screenwriter. He is well known for his former role in the television drama ER as well as his rise as a movie star in American cinema.

His role as "Dr. Doug Ross on NBC's hit ER allowed Clooney to achieve stardom. Clooney has starred in movies such as One Fine Day, From Dusk Till Dawn, Batman & Robin, Out of Sight, 3 Kings, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Perfect Storm, Ocean's Eleven, Intolerable Cruelty, Welcome to Collinwood, and Ocean's Twelve.

In 2002, he made his debut as a film director in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. George Clooney was nominated for the 2006 Academy Awards Achievement in Directing and Original Screenplay for Good Night, and Good Luck and also for Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role for Syriana.

He became the first person in Oscar history to be nominated for directing one movie and acting in another one in the same year. He was also nominated for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts David Lean Award for Achievement in Directing for Good Night, and Good Luck. Clooney was awarded a Golden Globe for his portrayal of "Bob Barnes" in Syriana for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role alongside with an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Clooney's first recurring role was "Booker" on hit sitcom series Roseanne, but his first major role was on TV's medical comedy/drama, E/R.  Additionally, he played on The Facts of Life, Return of the Killer Tomatoes, and the film Combat Academy in 1987.

George Clooney has a movie production studio, Section Eight Productions. He has also served as a pitchman for products outside the U.S. such as Fiat and Martini Vermouth. In 2005, he lent his voice to Budweiser for a series of ads.
