Early in his career David worked with the sketch troupe, Bucket of Pucks, participating a writer and performer. As a solo stand-up comic David has performed at Yuk Yuks, the Laugh Resort, Comedywood, Rivoli in Canada, The New York Comedy Club, Don't Tell Mama, Detroit's Comedy Castle and Josie's Juice Joint & Cabaret in the United States.
Recent performances have also included Gay Ski Week in Aspen, Gay Pride in Long Beach, California, and the Rainbow Mountain Resort in Pennsylvannia.
MacLean has also appeared in episodes of PSI Factor, Nickelodeon's Animorphs, Real Kids; Real Adventures and the television movie, The Rocky Marciano Story. David has also acted in numerous television commercials.
