Culberson was the 51st overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Giants, fine-tuning his game at the plate and as an infielder within San Francisco`s minor-league ranks before making his Major League debut on May 13, 2012 and recording his first big-league hit against the Arizona Diamondbacks. But in July that year, Culberson was traded to the Rockies and after starting the 2013 season playing with Colorado`s Class AAA ballclub, was called up by the Rockies on July 29, immediately seeing action as a starter in the outfield. Culberson immediately produced for the Rockies as he wound up playing in 47 games, batting .293 that included a 10-game hitting streak. He also finished with two home runs - his first career round-tripper came on Aug. 16 against the Baltimore Orioles - and he drove in 12 runs and stole five bases. He will start the 2014 season on the Rockies` 40-man spring training roster.
