Carolyn Finney serves as a professor of Geography at the University of Kentucky. A backpacking trip around the world and stint living in Nepal changed her life and influences her work today.
After an 11-year acting career, Finney returned to school to complete her B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. She has been featured on the Tavis Smiley Show, MSNBC and NPR.
In 2014, Finney wrote her first book, Black Faces, White Spaces: Reimagining the Relationship of African-Americans to the Great Outdoors. She is a member of the U.S. National Parks Advisory Board and the National Association of Geographers.
