National Geographic Explorer-In-Residence Sylvia Earle Speaks at Texas A&M-CC in March

One of the world's top explorers is coming to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in March. Sylvia Earle is scheduled to kick off the school's spring Distinguished Speaker Series on March 2nd. 

Earle's presentation is titled, "Exploring and Caring for Earth's Magnificent Ocean." The talk takes place from 8-9:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. 

Tickets to attend range in price from $30-$150 and will go on sale January 6th. Earle will also take part in a free student forum from 2-3 p.m. that day. 

As the advisory board chair for the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M-CC, Earle already has a connection with the school. She is also a National Geographic explorer-in-residence.

Earle has led over 100 expedition and most of her work centers on marine ecosystems. She has writen over a dozen books and outlined her research in more than 225 scientific publications.

Earle has been able to take her findings from over 7,000 hours of underwater research and share them with audiences in 90 different countries. She has received countless awards and Time named her their first "Hero of the Planet."
