Former Army Staff Sergeant David Bellavia Speaks at Charity Golf Tournament

A recent American military hero spoke recently at an event benefiting injured soldiers. Former Army staff sergeant David Bellavia was the guest speaker at the New York Warrior Alliance fifth annual golf tournament.
The tournament was held at Hickory Ridge Golf and Country Club in Holley, New York. They reached their goal in receiving over $20,000 in donation money.
Bellavia is an area native and he thanked those veterans in attendance. He talked about improving the way we take care of veterans in the U.S.
Bellavia is a veteran of the Iraq War who was awarded the Silver Star. During the Second Battle of Fallujah, he killed five insurgents during an intense encounter.
In addition, Bellavia has received three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals and the Bronze Star. He has published a book about his experiences titled, "House to House: An Epic Memoir of War".
Bellavia is a member of the New York Veterans' Hall of Fame. After retiring from active duty in 2006, he founded Vets for Freedom, which is now the largest organization advocating for Afghanistan and Iraq veterans.
