Chewy.com Founder Ryan Cohen Keynotes Florida Venture Capital Conference

Chewy.com co-founder and CEO Ryan Cohen knows as a thing or two about starting a business. His insights proved invaluable for attendees at the Florida Venture Capital Conference. 

Cohen was the keynote speaker at the event, which ran January 30-31 at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale. e talked about how his team grew Chewy and the obstacles they faced along the way. 

There were eight companies that presented at the conference. They were vying for a $100,000 prize from Florida's aerospace and spaceport development authority, Space Florida. 

Cohen's career has followed a familiar entrepreneur track. He dropped out of college to pursue his dream and co-founded Chewy.com in Dania Beach with business partner Michael Day in 2011. 

The built the online pet retailer into one of the top e-commerce sites in the world. Last year, Chewy generated nearly $900 million in revenue and the company was sold to PetSmart. 

The deal with PetSmart marked the largest e-commerce transaction of all-time. Cohen remains on board as a director with PetSmart and the CEO of Chewy.
