Refugee Organization Spokesperson Melissa Fleming Gives Closing Keynote at September’s EAIE

The European Association for International Education has an important global leader as their conference's closing keynote speaker.  Melissa Fleming serves as the Head of Communications and Chief Spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and she speaks at the event on September 16th.

EAIE 2016 runs September 13-16 in Liverpool.  The 28th edition of the annual conference is the largest international higher education event. 

There will be over 5,000 attendees from more than 90 countries at the event.  Early bird registration is now available until June 29th. 

In Fleming's role with the UNHCR, she brings awareness to some difficult situations across the globe.  She has helped introduce strategic and crisis communications plans to the organization. 

Prior to joining UNHCR, Fleming was the Head of Media and Public Information for the International Atomic Energy Agency.  She played a key role as the agency gained greater notoriety in the post-9/11 world. 

Fleming started her career at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and as spokesperson at the Organization for Security and Co-operation.  She has a bachelor's degree in German Studies from Oberlin College and a master's degree in Journalism from Boston University.
