Born on August 3, 1959 Mike Gminski is a retired American college and professional basketball player. He attended Masuk High School in Monroe, CT where he played for four seasons with the Duke Blue Devils from the year 1977 up to 1980. He led the team in scoring during his junior and senior years. He was named the ACC Rookie of the Year in 1977, the first team All-ACC three years, 1978, 1979, and 1980 respectively, and the ACC Player of the Year in 1979. He was also named an AP Second Team All-American in 1979 and 1980, and a UPI First Team All-American in 1979 and Second Team All-American in 1980. In the year 2002, he was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary men's basketball team as one of the 50 greatest players in Atlantic Coast Conference history. He is seventh all time in the ACC in points and rebounds. He is sixth in blocked shots all-time in the ACC and second in Duke History, respectively. He is also second in Duke Career rebounds.

In the year 1980, he was drafted in the first round by the New Jersey Nets of the NBA and was picked 7th overall. He played for the Nets from 1981 to 1988. He went on to play with the Philadelphia 76ers from 1988 up to 1991, as well as the Charlotte Hornets in the year 1991 until 1994 and the Milwaukee Bucks in 1994.
