Since joining NBC 4 in 1985, Len Berman has hosted many live seasonal sports specials featuring the Giants, Mets, Yankees and Knicks. His popular feature, "Spanning the World," airs monthly on NBC 4 and NBC's "Today" show. "Spanning the World," Berman focuses on wild and wacky sports clips worldwide. In April 1996, Berman and "Spanning the World" were featured on "Dick Clark Hosts All-new All-Star TV Censored Mega Bloopers," the first of multiple appearances on Clark's show.

In addition, Berman files weekly sports reports for One on One Sports radio, AM 620. Berman's three-minute reports air Tuesday through Friday and feature his commentary and insight on current New York sports events and issues.

Berman was part of the NBC Sports team covering the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games. He covered ski jumping and was part of the Special Features Unit in addition to filling his regular sportscasts. During the 2000 summer games in Sydney, Berman covered rowing, whitewater, and wrestling. He had the first interview with wrestler Rulon Gardner when he made history by upsetting his undefeated Russian opponent.

During the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, Berman filed reports from Atlanta for the station's various newscasts, including live interviews with local gold medal winners.

In January 1996, Berman hosted the nationally syndicated "Touchdown in Phoenix," an hour-long preview to Super Bowl XXX.

Berman has been the recipient of six local Emmy awards and was voted by his peers in the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association as New York "Sportscaster of the Year" in 1994, 1995, 1998 and 2001. His other credits include hosting Super Bowl XVII (Washington/Miami), the 1984 World Series, college basketball and NFL Football. Berman was the original voice of the Big East Basketball Conference from 1980-1986.

During the 1991 football season, Berman co-hosted a sports/entertainment show, "L.T.'s Place," with New York Giants Lawrence Taylor. From 1991-1993, he was the voice of TVKO Boxing, a pay-per-view cable service, calling heavyweight championship fights. In Berman's "Sports Fantasy," -- a program that aired on NBC 4 and NBC's "Sportsworld" from 1985-1990, viewers were given the opportunity to act out their sports fantasy with their favorite athlete.

Berman came to Channel 4 after serving as weekend sports anchor on WCBS-TV for three years. Prior to that, Berman had been sports director at WBZ-TV, NBC's Boston affiliate since 1973. In addition to daily sportscasts at WBZ-TV, he did play-by-play on the Boston Celtics regular season telecasts and the New England Patriots pre-season telecasts from 1974 to 1978. While at WBZ-TV, he received two New England Emmys for sportscasting. Berman began his broadcasting career in 1970 at WLWD-TV in Dayton, Ohio as a news and sports reporter.

A native New Yorker, Berman graduated from Syracuse University and currently serves on the advisory boards of both Syracuse and St. John's Universities.
