Voted the NBA's 2008 Most Improved Player, Hedo Turkoglu was born on March 19, 1979, in Gaziosmanpaa, Istanbul, Turkey and the first Turkish-born player in NBA history.
Standing 6'10" tall and playing the small forward position, Turkoglu is a solid shooter inside and outside the three point line. A versatile player who has played four positions from point guard to power forward during his career.
Before coming into the NBA, Turkoglu cited Kobe Bryant, Grant Hill, Scottie Pippen, Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell as his favorite players. He was selected with the 16th pick by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft from one of Istanbul's and Turkey's top clubs, Efes Pilsen.
In the 2007-08 season, Hedo is averaging career highs in all 3 major statistical categories (points, rebounds and assists). Along with teammates Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis, Hedo hopes to lead the Orlando Magic to many NBA titles.
