Edward “Ted” Miller is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Global Pathways and American Classroom programs at Northeastern University, which prepare international students for admission to undergraduate and graduate degree programs. His research interests include the political and urban/suburban history of 20th century America. Dr. Miller focuses specifically on the rise of American conservatism. His first book, "Nut Country: Right Wing Dallas and the Birth of the Southern Strategy," was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2015. He has published articles in the Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era and Cities in American Political History and has received research support from the Eisenhower Foundation and the Clough Center for the Study of Constitutional Democracy at Boston College. Dr. Miller has presented at the New England Historical Association and at other meetings of historians. He is currently at work on his second book, "Sugar Daddy: A Life of Robert Welch," about the founder of the John Birch Society.

Previously, Dr. Miller was a part-time faculty member for NU Global at Northeastern University. He has served as the research director and policy analyst for the Committee on Public Service, Commonwealth of Massachusetts House of Representatives, where he developed an extensive understanding of leadership and the law-making process.
