Well-known to audiences from his many television and film roles, Doug Savant plays "Tom Scavo," the sometimes-befuddled house husband of Felicity Huffman on ABC's smash hit series Desperate Housewives.
In addition to his Desperate Housewives visibility, Savant is also recognizable from his series regular role as “Matt Fielding,†the openly gay character on Fox’s Melrose Place. Savant guest starred on series such as N.Y.P.D Blue, Profiler, Harsh Realm, Firefly, JAG, Nip/Tuck, and a four-episode arc on 24. In addition, he has starred in many television films including the TBS thriller trilogy of First Shot, First Target and First Daughter.
Savant began his acting career when he left the University of California at Los Angeles to perform in Los Angeles regional theatre and went on to appear in such feature films as Masquerade, a film noir in which he starred opposite Rob Lowe and Meg Tilly,Hanoi Hilton the story of an American prisoner of war, Godzilla, working with Matthew Broderick and a giant irradiated lizard and Red Surf, in which he starred with George Clooney and Dee Dee Pfeiffer.
