David Shipley is the senior executive editor of Bloomberg View. He is the coauthor, with Will Schwalbe of Send: The Essential Guide to Email for Office and Home (Knopf 2007), which was a national bestseller and was shortlisted for the Quill Award for the best business book of the year and Send: Why People Email So Badly and How to Do It Better (Revised Edition, Knopf 2008).David has spoken about email alone and with Will Schwalbe at many companies and organizations including Microsoft, Amazon, the Mayo Clinic, Wharton, the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the SXSW Festival and Scholastic Books. He previously held several positions at The New York Times, including Op-Ed editor, national enterprise editor, and senior editor at the New York Times Magazine. From 1993 to 1995, he was executive editor of The New Republic magazine in Washington, D.C., and from 1995 to 1997, he served as special assistant to the president and senior presidential speechwriter in the Clinton administration. He has appeared on Today, Good Morning America, CBS Sunday Morning, NPR’s Talk of the Nation and All Things Considered, CNBC’s Power Lunch, and BBC’s The Money Programme, and been quoted in publications around the world. He lives in New York City.
