Dan started riding when he was 5 yrs old and shortly made his way into the ranks of racing AMA District 5 Motocross. Pastor then started to race 125 and 250 outdoors and select Supercross races until 1999. His first Freestyle contest was with Faisst, Deegan and Link in Las Vegas.
