Carlos Ghosn is president and CEO of global automotive company Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. He joined Nissan as chief operating officer in 1999, became president in 2000, and was named CEO in 2001.
In May 2005, Ghosn was also named president and CEO of Renault S.A. As head of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Ghosn is responsible for two separate companies with combined annual global sales of 6.2 million vehicles.
Ghosn previously served as executive vice president of the Renault Group, supervising Renault activities in Mercosur and having responsibility for advanced research, car engineering and development, car manufacturing, power-train operations and purchasing. Earlier he had worked at Michelin for 18 years. As chairman and CEO of Michelin North America, he presided over its restructuring after its acquisition of the Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Co. in 1990.
Ghosn holds engineering degrees from École Polytechnique and from École des Mines de Paris.
