Carl Weathers started his career playing NFL football as a linebacker with the Oakland Raiders and later on with a team in the Canadian Football League.  

Weathers retired from football in 1974 and became an actor.  His first roles were in the movies "Bucktown" and "Friday Foster", both in 1975.

In 1976, he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in Rocky as Apollo Creed, a role he would reprise in the next three Rocky films in 1979, 1982, and 1985.

Weathers also starred in a number of action films, including "Force 10 From Navarone" in 1978, "Predator" in 1987, and "Action Jackson" in 1988.  He also had parts in the Adam Sandler comedies "Happy Gilmore" in 1996, "Little Nicky" in 2000, and "Eight Crazy Nights" in 2002.

Weathers was in "Heat of The Night" and he also played in the TV series "Street Justice" in which he played Sgt. Adam Beaudreaux.  He also played as MACV-SOG Lt.Col. Brewster in the CBS series "Tour of Duty".

Weathers most recently played a cheapskate caricature of himself in several episodes of the Fox Television comedy series "Arrested Development".  Outside of acting he is also a member of the Uniited States Olympic Committee.
