The Virginia men's golf team is fortunate to have Dr. Bob Rotella as an active member of the programs in the role of volunteer assistant coach. Internationally known for his work in the area of applied sports psychology, Dr. Rotella is consistently recognized as the Top Sports Psychologist in the world.
Rotella, who resides in Charlottesville, meets with the Cavalier players on a regular basis to assist with their mental approach to the game. His work with many of the world's best players provides a tremendous resource of information and knowledge for UVa's aspiring student-athletes.
Rotella's book, "Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect" is the best selling sport psychology book of all time and one of the three best selling golf books in history.

Dr. Rotella's golfers on the PGA Tour have won at least 25 major championships. As a teacher, Dr. Rotella has been selected as one of the top 10 golf teachers of the 20th Century and directed the leading graduate program in the country for 20 years, at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Rotella has dedicated his life to helping coaches, athletes, business leaders and salespersons use their minds and emotions to take them to the top of their chosen professions.
He currently serves on the editorial board of Golf Digest and is a columnist for that publication. He is the past president of the North American Association for Applied Sports Psychology and a contributing editor for the Sport Psychology Journal.
He has worked as a consultant for personnel for the NBA, NFL, Major League Baseball, Nascar, PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Senior Tour, U.S. Olympic Ski Team and the U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team.
Companies he has served as a corporate consultant include Merrill Lynch, General Electric, Ford, Tim Life, Coca Cola, Chrysler, Newsweek, Pepsi-Cola, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
The list of professional golfers he has consulted is exhaustive. It includes players such as Davis Love, III, Brad Faxon, Nick Price, Paul Azinger, Trevor Immelman, Billy Mayfair,Padraig Harrington, David Toms, Scott Verplank, Jeff Sluman, Fred Funk and Tom Kite.
In his more than two decades of service at the University of Virginia, Dr. Rotella was most recently Director of the Sports Psychology Department, one of the nation's best programs for sports psychology.
