After a successful run piloting The Aspen Institute non-profit, Amy Margerum Berg has a new task in front of her. Berg is leaving at the end of the month to head up The Better Angels Society.
The Better Angels Society serves an important function for one of the most significant modern filmmakers. It supports, promotes, and preserves the work of documentarian Ken Burns.
Burns documentaries have been watched by hundreds of millions of people. Berg will continue to help advance that work and the work of other filmmakers.
Berg has had a 16-year tenure with The Aspen Institute. She has led the organization through a period of unprecedented growth and expanded their community outreach program.
Prior to arriving at The Aspen Institute, Berg was CEO and City Manager of Aspen, Colorado. She oversaw the implementation of a performance-based management system to evaluate and reward employees.
Berg held other planning jobs with municipalities before running the show in Aspen. She was a planning director for Pitkin County and a long range planning director in Santa Barbara County.
