Top Actor Jesse Williams Becomes Brand Ambassador for Scholly

Actor Jesse Williams is lending his name as brand ambassador for a company fulfilling a worthy cause.  He is working for Scholly, a scholarship-guidance app helping students pay for college.

Williams remembers his own struggles to get through college financially at Temple University.  In addition to serving as brand ambassador, he will also join the Scholly advisory board and receive an equity share.

Scholly gained great exposure from their appearance on SharkTank.  The partnership between the Philly-start-up and Williams seems like a natural fit.

Williams is best known for playing Dr. Jackson Avery on the ABC series, "Grey's Anatomy", which begins its' 13th season this week.  He joined the cast as a recurring character in season six and became a mainstay in season seven.

In film, Williams has also gained a foothold with roles in movies like "Brooklyn's Finest", "The Cabin in the Woods", and "The Butler".  His career got a jump start in 2005 when he was one of 14 chosen out of 300 people to take part in the New York Actors Showcase.

It is no surprise that Williams is backing an education platform.  Before becoming an actor, he taught in the Philadelphia public schools system for six years.
