There are not many more performers more associated with the 1990s than rapper Vanilla Ice.  That made him the perfect artist to kick of LAX Nightclub's revamped Throwback Thursday series.

Vanilla Ice will take the stage at the Las Vegas club inside the Luxor Hotel and Casino on January 21st.  LAX will bring in iconic performers from the 1980s and 1990s every other week in 2016.

The club recently revealed upgrades to their lighting and sound system among other improvements.  For each Throwback Thursday, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite fashions from the 80s and 90s.

Vanilla Ice's 1990 single, "Ice Ice Baby", became the first hip-hop single to hit number one on the Billboard charts.  The album, To the Extreme, was the fastest selling hip hop album of all time and spent 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 charts.

In 1991, Vanilla Ice was nominated for a Grammy, won two American Music Awards, and a People's Choice Award.  He has been a mainstay in pop culture ever since, releasing eight more albums and appearing in film and TV roles.

Since 2011, The Vanilla Ice Project has aired on the DIY Network.  It chronicles Vanilla Ice's efforts to renovate and flip houses and recently finished season five.
