Author Ralph Peters unique blend of fiction and non-fiction works always set in a military world have proven popular. Certainly, his recent series of fiction revolving around The Civil War has been a hit in the town of Savannah, Georgia.
Yesterday, Peters held a book signing in the city at E. Shaver Bookstore. He autographed copies of his latest book, "The Damned of Petersburg" at the store from 5-7 p.m.
Peters describes this and his other works of fiction as based in a great historical detail, but dramatized to make a great story. The Damned of Petersburg is the fourth in a series of five novels about The Civil War.
Peters has covered a wide variety of military eras and subplots with his writing. He has undoubtedly leaned on his own experience as a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel.
In 2013, the American Library Association honored Peters with the W.Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction for his work, "Cain at Gettysburg". He has also written several military strategy essays and contributed to the New York Post, USA Today and The Washington Post, among others.
Peters makes regular television appearances on Fox News. He has been outspoken about recent military engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq.
