There is no question that the Malala Yousafzai has inspired a generation of girls and women around the world.  Yousafzai was able to meet again with one of those girls this week.

The 18-year-old Nobel laureate welcomed 17-year-old Syrian activist Muzoon Almellehan to northern England on Tuesday.  They met with their families at a public library and promised to fight for the Syrian children refugees' access to education.

Yousafzai and Almellehan originally met at a Syrian refugee camp in the Jordanian desert in 2014.  Almellehan is now one of the first refugees to make it to England.

In 2012, Yousafzai was shot in the head in Pakistan by the Taliban for refusing to quit school. The story gained international attention and she became the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.

For each of the last three years, Yousafzai has been named to Time Magazine's list of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World."  In addition to all the honors, she also was the recipient of the first Pakistan National Youth Peace Prize.

Yousafzai continues to campaign for women's rights and children's education today.  Her memoir, "I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban", was published in 2013.
