This Monday, observant viewers of ABC's hit reality show The Bachelor may have seen a unique attempt at brand synergy during the season 20 premiere episode. The new star of the show, Ben Higgins, was featured in a spot for McDonald's during one of the commercial breaks.
Last season's Bachelor, Ben Soules, and one of the show's success stories, Sean and Catherine Lowe were also featured in the spot. The ad shows Higgins going back and forth debating whether to choose breakfast or lunch.
The Bachelor alumni are seen advising and perhaps even confusing his decision as he stands at the counter. McDonald's has recently been pushing their all-day breakfast menu after adding the option in October.
Higgins will sort through the pool of 28 contestants each Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC until he makes his final selection. The first episode drew a strong 7.5 million viewers which definitely shows initial interest in this season of the series.
Higgins initially gained popularity for his run as a contestant fighting for Kaitlyn Bristowe's affection on season 11 of The Bachelorette. He finished in third place that season.
The Denver, Colorado resident currently works as an account analyst at Talisys. He grew up in Warsaw, Indiana.
