Human rights advocate Arun Gandhi has been hard at work publishing a series of children's books that give lessons from his grandfather, Mohandas Gandhi. On Saturday, he is hosting a book signing near his current Rochester, New York home.
Gandhi is scheduled to be in Perry at Burlingham Books at 10 a.m. The two books that are currently released that he will sign are, "Grandfather Gandhi" and "Be the Change: A Grandfather Gandhi Story".
There is hope that the series will be extended by two more books. They each give a specific lesson from the iconic Indian independence movement leader.
Gandhi grew up under apartheid rule in South Africa. He eventually moved to the U.S. in 1987 to work on a study at the University of Mississippi.
Following that work, Gandhi founded the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence. He is also the co-founder of the Season for Nonviolence that celebrates the principles of his grandfather and Martin Luther King Jr.
Gandhi currently travels the world talking about nonviolence. His center currently resides at the University of Rochester's River Campus.
