For a certain generation of people, one-time teen idol Bobby Rydell remains a memorable figure.  Now, he is talking about his rise to fame in the autobiography, "Bobby Rydell, Teen Idol on the Rocks: A Tale of Second Chances".

The book chronicles how he was able to gain popularity and the consequences that came with it.  As part of the book promotion, Rydell is making several stops across his native state of Pennsylvania.

The book tour started with an appearance at the Barnes & Noble in Plymouth Meeting last Saturday.  He also has visits scheduled to Doylestown (August 16th), Wayne (October 8th) and Broomall (November 19th).

From 1959-1964, Rydell charted 34 Top 40 hits.  Some of his most memorable singles include "Volare", "Wild One" and "Kissin Time".

Rydell got his start in entertainment as a cast member on "Paul Whiteman's TV Teen Club" in 1950.  After hitting it big in the music world, he crossed over into film, starring in "Bye Bye Birdie" in 1963.

Rydell remains an active performer to this day.  Since the mid-1980's, he has teamed with fellow South Philly products Frankie Avalon and Fabian to form The Golden Boys.
