Former President Jimmy Carter Marks President's Day Weekend with Book Signing

Jimmy Carter is spending this President's Day interacting with people at a book signing. The former President appeared at an event as part of the three-day celebration at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains, Georgia.
President Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, held a discussion about the 1976 Presidential campaign that catapulted them to the White House. They also signed copies of their books following the presentation.
At 11 a.m., people filled the Plains High School auditorium to hear from the Carters. Overflow crowds were redirected to the to Maranatha Baptist Church to view a live stream of the conversation.
President Carter served one term from 1977-1981. He established two presidential cabinet departments, the Department of Energy and the Department of Education.
Prior to being President, Carter was a Georgia State Senator and Governor. However, it is his post-presidency work that gains the highest acclaim.
President Carter's humanitarian work has helped countless lives around the world and given publicity to groups like Habitat for Humanity. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the Carter Center.
