Many people know Dr. Phil McGraw from his television platform aimed at helping others.  Now, he and his wife Robin McGraw are attacking the issue of sexual assault via an entirely different medium.

The McGraws are working with the National Limousine Association to create The Aspire Initiative app.  It helps protect passengers of ride-sharing services in the event they find themselves in a compromising position.

With one tap of a button, a pre-written message will be sent to 911 or any selected contact. The app also allows users to record any interaction in real-time.  

The Dr. Phil Show has been on the air in syndication since 2002.  McGraw first gained notoriety through several appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show in the 1990s.

He has also had several successful best-selling books, including his first, Life Strategies in 1999. McGraw has a master's experimental psychology and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of North Texas.
