Last week, talented writer and web video creator Issa Rae held a book signing in Los Angeles. Her new book, "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl" was officially re-released in paperback on July 12th.
The following day, Rae was at Barnes & Noble at The Grove for the signing. Many of her fans came out to interact with her.
In addition to the signing, Rae also held a conversation with the attendees. She talked about advice for young writers and her entry into the television industry.
Rae is a very successful YouTube personality, with over 200,000 subscribers and over 20 million views. Her web series that carries the same name as the book won the 2012 Shorty Award for Best Web Show.
In addition, Rae has worked on web content for celebs like Pharrell Williams. Her half-hour HBO comedy series "Insecure" with Larry Wilmore will be released this fall.
Rae has also developed an ABC series with Shonda Rhimes. She has twice been named to Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
