Astronaut Clayton Anderson made a return to the town of his alma mater last week to sign a copy of his memoir.  Last Tuesday, Anderson signed copies of "The Ordinary Spaceman: From Boyhood Dreams to Astronaut" in Hastings, Nebraska.

He attended Hastings College and the line at Prairie Books and Gifts was a lengthy one.  During the signing, Anderson also took pictures with those in line.

While he has been attending many book signings since the release on June 1st of last year, being back where he went to school was especially meaningful.  Several people in attendance came up with different ties to Anderson from his past.

Anderson persevered to even become an astronaut, applying 15 times before finally being selected in 1998.  Overall, he had a 30-year career with NASA as an astronaut and engineer.

Anderson was a member of the ISS Expedition 15 crew.  He spent 152 days on the International Space Station in 2007 before returning aboard Discovery.

Twice he was awarded the NASA Spaceflight Medal and Exceptional Service Medal.  In 2013, Anderson retired from NASA.
