Actor Tyrese Gibson Makes Abu Dhabi Appearance Promoting Local Film Studio Launch

Tyrese Gibson's career has spanned all forms of entertainment.  That makes his latest venture a natural transition.  

Gibson is working towards launching a film studio called Voltron Studios in Abu Dhabi.  He recently traveled to the city to drum up further support for his project.

Last week, Gibson attended a meet and greet and autograph signing at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers hotel.  He talked about changing perceptions of the Middle East with his project and his ongoing need for political and financial backers in the region.

Gibson is hoping to bring in $700 million worth of films in Abu Dhabi once he gets his studio off the ground.  He became familiar with the area after shooting scenes for Furious 7 there.

Gibson is best known in the film world for his role as Roman Pierce in The Fast and the Furious series.  He also gained notoriety for his roles in Baby Boy, Transformers and Waist Deep.  

Originally, Gibson broke onto the scene as an R&B singer.  He has released seven albums and been nominated for six Grammy Awards.  

In 2012, Gibson landed on the New York Times bestseller list for his first book, "How to Get Out of Your Own Way".  Early in his entertainment career, he was also a fashion model and a VJ for MTV.
