Actor Matt LeBlanc may be associated with one of the most popular shows in television history, but the former Friends star is now a part of another acclaimed program.  LeBlanc has been named the new co-host on the BBC series, Top Gear.

In the 39-year history of the show, he is the first U.S. host.  LeBlanc will join Chris Evans as they guide the program into a new era.

The show will return in its new format this May.  Twice, LeBlanc has actually been a guest on Top Gear and he also served as a host for the web program, Top Gear: The Races.

LeBlanc earned legions of fans during his ten-year run as Joey Tribiani on Friends.  He also reprised his role as Tribiani for two seasons on the NBC spin-off show, Joey.

If that character gained him his greatest amount of popularity, he has found the most critical acclaim as the star of Episodes.  LeBlanc plays a fictional version of himself on the program and won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series Comedy in 2012.

In addition to the Golden Globe, LeBlanc received three Emmy nominations for Friends and has four nominations from Episodes.  He has also appeared in several films throughout his career.
