Chef Joe Rego has another feather in his cap when it comes to coming out victorious on television cooking shows.  Rego was a winner on Cutthroat Kitchen this month after previously triumphing on the Food Network show Chopped in 2012.

Rego and the contestants were put through various obstacles while making potato salad, chicken cacciatore, and donuts.  He won $6,500 for his successful appearance on the show.

Over 100 people gathered to watch the show in Rego's hometown of New Bedford, Massachusetts.  His culinary excellence is certainly revered around town.

Rego moved back to the area two and a half years ago and is the executive chef at Not Your Average Joe's central test kitchen.  He also has his own catering and consulting business.

Following his graduation from Johnson & Wales University, Rego honed his culinary talents at restaurants all over the country, including time at four critically acclaimed eateries in Atlanta.  His establishments have earned Best Restaurant accolades from Bon Appetit Magazine and Atlanta Magazine.

Rego came to New Beford from Portugal as a child.  In 2012, he used some of the winnings from Chopped to take his children overseas to meet their grandparents for the first time.
