Tom Selleck is best known for his role on "magnum, P.I."
After signing a seven-year contract with Fox studios, Tom Selleck made his feature film debut. Through the '70s, he held small roles in a few feature films, worked in commercials and appeared as a guest star on television with his largest role on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless". He had a major role in "The Sacketts" in 1979 and one year later Selleck got his big break playing detective Thomas Magnum in the series "Magnum, P.I", lasting eight years and making him a major television star and winner of an Emmy and a Golden Globe award.
Selleck's best-known film, "Three Men and a Baby" took place in 1987 when he played the role of a playboy architect who rescued a baby girl that was abandoned on the doorstep of the apartment he shared with his fellow bachelors.
Since, Selleck has branched out into television producing and has helped revitalize Burt Reynold's career with the television series B.L. Stryker. Through the '90s, he appeared as a recurring guest on the sitcom Friends and in 1997, he revitalized his own movie career by playing the gay news anchor in the comedy "In and Out".
