"Texas" Terry Labonte is a 2-time Winston Cup champion who hails from Corpus Christi,TX.
Labonte is ranked as one of NASCAR's best road course competitors.
He has won pole positions at 12 different active tracks as well as North Wilkesboro, Riverside and Texas World Speedway. He has been running at the finish in 81 percent of his races and in 2004 entered the season with a streak of 42 straight events without a DNF(did not finish) .
In Labonte's first Winston Cup race he started 19th and finished fourth in the No. 92 Duck Industries Chevrolet of Hagan Racing. He earned his first victory in his 59th start, and his first pole position one year later, taking the No. 1 starting spot for the spring race in Atlanta.
In 1982, Labonte became the youngest driver in motor sports history to win $1 million and the 12th NASCAR driver to reach the mark. In 2003, he passed $33 million in career winnings finishing in sixth-place.
Labonte is one out of only 10 active drivers to have won a Budweiser Shootout, posting his victory in the 1985 season-opening special event. He is one of only eight drivers who qualified in excess of 210 mph in 1987.
Labonte was the winner of the 1989 International Race of Champions title, one of the six IROC series in which he has competed.
His brother Bobby is also a Winston Cup champion.
