Ted Danson is an American actor, best known for his role as Sam Malone in the popular television sitcom, Cheers.
He became interested in acting while at Stanford University and eventually earned his bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University. His television career began on the daytime soap opera "Somerset." When not working on the soap opera, he would also work on the sets of "Family," "Benson," "Laverne and Shirley," and "Magnum, P.I.."
Cheers, however, was not his most popular television sitcom. Danson also appeared in the popular shows "Frasier" and "Becker." When not on the television screen, Danson could also be seen in film. He has worked in films such as "Three Men and a Baby," "The Onion Field," "Saving Private Ryan," "Made in America," and "Getting Even with Dad."
When not acting, Ted is an environmentalist advocate. In the 1980's, he was a contributing founder of the American Oceans Campaign, now known as Oceana.
