LaBeouf was born in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Cajun circus clown, Jeffrey LaBeouf, and Shayna Saide, a Jewish American ballerina.[1] LaBeouf was raised Jewish. He started his career by performing stand-up comedy around his neighborhood. One day, he saw one of his friends act on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and from then on he wanted to become an actor. He searched the Yellow Pages for an agent and called one using an adult voice claiming to know a great child actor (himself) who would someday be big. At the agency he did a stand-up routine, and then they signed him.
LaBeouf is well known for playing Louis Stevens in the Disney Channel television series, Even Stevens, for which he was awarded for a Daytime Emmy Award. In 2005 he appeared in the Horror film Constantine opposite Keanu Reeves and the Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz. He will play Sam (also known as "Spike") in director Michael Bay's upcoming Transformers film, which will be released in July of 2007.
