Richard Simmons is an American fitness expert who promotes weight-loss programs.
Growing up in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Simmons was an overweight child at 268 pounds. After losing over 100 pounds, he decided to teach aerobics and exercise.
Today, he hosts his own radio show and has written a number of exercise and fitness books. He also has his own line of video's, DVD's, and an audio collection on cassettes and CD's. He is best known for his high-energy and motivational demeanor.
