Pat Sullivan is a former professional football player and Heisman Trophy winner.
He got started in football at John Carroll Catholic High School where he also played baseball and basketball. After high school, he chose to pursue football at Auburn University where he became the starting quarterback. He broke numerous NCAA records while at Auburn and in 1971 he was awarded the Heisman Trophy. He was named an Academic All-American and graduated with a bachelors of science in business administration.
After college, he played in the NFL for five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Redskins. He decided to retire from playing in the NFL to enter a private insurance business. After his break from football, he decided to return to the game he loved the most.
In 1992, Pat became the head coach at Texas Christian University. After six seasons as head coach, he decided to resign and just one year later in 1999, he became offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Alabama-Birmingham where he still coaches today.
