Fabray has received two Donaldson Awards. She has also won three Emmys with Sid Caesar, and appeared for six years in the hit TV series "One Day at Time." On the comedy "Coach" she played the mother of her real life niece Shelley Fabares.
Fabray has received the Humanitarian Award and was also selected as an American Woman of the Year. She has won the Fashion Academy Award as one of the ten best women in America. In 2001, UCLACenter on Aging gave her the Icon of the Year Award.
She had a presidential appointment as a founding board member to the National Council on the Disabled, which wrote the American with Disabilities Act. She is a founding board member of the National Captioning Institute, and a board member of the Presidents Committee on the Handicapped.
Fabray has received many other honors including the President's Distinguished Service Award, the California Museum of Science and Industry 'Woman of the World', three honorary doctorates and numerous other awards, including the Living Legacy Award.
She and Helen Keller are the only women to receive the Public Service Award from the AmericanAcademy of Otolaryngology.
