Margaret Smith Court is considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time.Born in Australia, she was just 17 when she won her first of seven straight singles titles at the Australian Championships.Between 1960 and 1975, Margaret Smith Court won a record 62 Grand Slam titles – 24 singles, 19 mixed doubles, and 19 women's doubles.
In 1970, Margaret became the second female player to win all four Grand Slam singles titles in a year.Margaret Smith Court is one of only three players to have achived a career "boxed set" of Grand Slam titles.She won every possible Grand Slam title which consists of singles, same-sex doubles and mixed doubles – at all four of the Grand Slam events.
In 1979, Margaret Smith Court was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.In 2003, Show Court One in Melbourne Park was renamed Margaret Court Arena. Also in 2003, the Australian government honored her and fellow Australian tennis superstar Rod Laver by putting their pictures on postage stamps.
Margaret Smith Court now lives in Perth, Australia, and runs the Christian ministry, "Victory Life Centre".
