Lee Mazzilli managed the Baltimore Orioles in 2004 and 2005 and coached for the New York Yankees in 2006.
Mazzilli had a very respectable playing career. His ten years with the New York Mets marked the buk of his playing days, but he made stops with the Yankees, Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays before retiring.
Mazzilli was selected by the Mets organization as the 14th overall pick of the first round of the 1973 Free Agent Draft. Mazzilli led the Mets in hits twice, with 181 in 1979 and with 162 in 1980.
In the magical Mets season of 1986, Mazzilli signed with the team as a late-season free agent acquisition on August 3, 1986, and was a one of the heroes of the 1986 World Series. In the infamous Bill Buckner-Game 6, Mazzilli helped start the final inning rally by getting a hit and scoring a run.
