Kathy Ireland was discovered at the age of 17 by an Elite Modeling scout. In 1984, she appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for the first time. She graced it's cover 3 more times and appeared in the magazine a record setting thirteen times.
She also appeared on the covers of other magazines throughout her career, including Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Glamour, Shape, Seventeen, and Harper's Bazaar. Ireland has one of the highest selling calendars in the world, her very own annual swimsuit calendar.
In 1994, she became a fitness instructor and has since released three best-selling fitness videos. Kathy also serves as a contributing editor to Fitness Magazine.
Kathy has film credits for Necessary Roughness, Mr. Destiny, The Player, Loaded Weapon 1, Amore!, and Backfire!. She also made television appearances in Danger Island, Perry Mason: The Case of the Wicked Wives, Miami Hustle, Suddenly Susan and Melrose Place and has starred in the play Three Tall Women.
Aside from modeling and acting, Ireland has designed her own clothing line, the "Kathy Ireland Brand", including a swimwear collection, maternity line, exercise apparel, home collections, and accessories for women.
