Once one of her friends sent her photos to an agency in Prague, Karolina Kurkova landed a runway appearance immediately as well as a commercial and print ad.
She later traveled to Milan where Prada's designer signed her to a contract that would mark the beginning of her career. In 2001, Karolina made her first appearance on Vogue as one of the youngest models ever to grace its cover. This gave her a recognition that led to a deal with Victoria's Secret, Yves Saint-Laurent, Tommy Hilfiger, and Valentino, among others.
Vogue honored her as the "Model of the Year" at the 2002 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards. Kurkova has obtained contracts with Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel and Balenciaga, putting her at 80 magazine cover appearances and counting.
She has been featured in fashion spreads in most major fashion magazines including Vanity Fair, The Face, and W.
